SUNSET PARK, Brooklyn (WABC) - Nearly 13 people were shot or injured by shrapnel at several subway stations along the Northbound N train line in Brooklyn Tuesday morning. Now, there is a manhunt for the gunman described as wearing a gas mask and an orange construction jacket.
At least four of the victims were found at the 36th Street subway station in Sunset Park and another at the 25th Street station in Greenwood Heights before 8:30 a.m.
It was not clear whether the shooting took place on the train or at the stations. A smoke canister was also used during the shooting. Police were looking at up to four packages that they initially considered suspicious, but were later determined to be unrelated. The victims were taken to Maimonides Medical Center, Kings County Hospital and other hospitals.
The suspect was described as a black man. No arrests were made, and institutions in the area were closed as the search continued. An FBI official says they are helping the NYPD and it is still unclear at this point if there is any terrorism link, but the FBI headquarters is keeping an eye on it.
The N and R power lines have been shut down as police are still searching for the suspect. new york news
